Avatar was a good movie—unless, of course, you waited until the last second to get to the movie theater and ended up with a seat in the front row. Fandango is trying to make that a thing of the past. The movie theater listing company just announced that they’re launching a ticket program that allows you to buy tickets online and have them sent directly to your mobile phone through a text message. That text message allows you to access a bar code that can be scanned at the theater so that you don’t have to wait in line for a ticket and be the last one to show up inside. It’s only available right now at certain theaters in eight cities around the U.S., including New York, Houston, Dallas, and San Diego, but expect the option to open up to more cities in the near future.—Chris Yuscavage
