It was a night reminiscent of the forgotten Lyricist Lounge that once showcased the most talented artists buzzing in the underground hip-hop scene. Coming all the way from Motor City, last night Royce Da 5’9″, headlined at SOBs in Lower Manhattan on the anniversary of the passing of rap icon, The Notorious B.I.G. In honor of the fallen emcee, Nickel Nine and special guests Joe Budden, Crooked I, and Pharoahe Monch took time to salute one of the greatest emcees to ever bless the mic. With their spirits high and the crowd behind them, the lyrical swordsmen ended the night off with a couple of razor sharp freestyles that would’ve made Biggie proud. —Mikey Fresh
