The earliest memory of Solange was in 2003, when Beyonce’s kid sis dropped her overproduced, pubescent debut Solo Star, which mostly seemed to tread Bey’s stiletto-stomped path. And then she got knocked up, and disappeared from the public conscious. Five years later, she returned with the ballsy Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams, singing brash, anti-Knowles ditties like the hazy “Champagne Chronic Nightcap” (“Sometimes I just want it to be, me and you and some good ooh-wee…”). Guess the occasional smoke session is necessary when you’re constantly pelted with Beyonce comparisons.
