The stage was set last night at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. Hipsters, stoner kids, Hip-Hop heads and tastemakers gathered at the gentrified venue for an invite-only performance by Kid Cudi, Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast and Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend.

Sanctioned by Converse, the trio recently worked on collaborative record and music video “All Summer,” which embodies the pure teen spirit and carefree attitude of adolescence.

As the free booze pumped through the veins of the unruly crowd, the timeless footwear company’s Three Artists. One Song. show kicked off with sets from rockers Bethany and Rostam. But with little reaction from the crowd, the anticipation for Cudi to come tear the house down set the tone for the night. The fans wanted Mr. Rager.

With little delay, Cudi hit the stage and had the audience singing along word for word to his Emo-rap tunes “Soundtrack to My Life” and “Pursuit of Happiness.” Working his stoner charm, Kanye’s young homey treated the house to his first live performances of “Erase Me” and “Mr. Rager,” both set appear on his upcoming sophomore set Man on the Moon: The Legend of Mr. Rager.

Before making his exit, Kid Cudi humbly addressed the controversy surrounding his recent arrest, “I know yall heard about me in news, I was just doing some blow… but I’m done with it. I’m sorry, I’m not gonna let you guys down.” —Mikey Fresh
