“Straight Outta Compton,” from Straight Outta Compton (1988)

C’mon now: Was there ever really a question? We’re pretty sure that if we gave this list to 100 different people, we’d probably get any number of combinations that would form the top 10. But we’re also pretty sure that a whole bunch of those people would put “Straight Outta Compton” right at the top of their list. As the intro off N.W.A.’s sophomore album, this song single-handedly made the group a staple in hip-hop, propelled the West Coast to the top of the game and made a lot of people sit up and take rap music seriously. And it did all of that as the intro track. Way to make a first impression, fellas.
