Queen Latifah will team up with Dolly Parton in the gospel musical comedy, Joyful Noise. Latifah and Parton will play two strong-minded women forced to work with one another to save a gospel choir on the verge of shutting down. Latifah portrays a mother of two with a husband in the military, and Parton plays the wife of the late choir director. Joyful Noise starts begins production in January…

Taraji P. HensonTaraji will be tackling an indie sports drama for her next feature. Henson will star in From The Rough, based on the true story of Tennessee State University’s Catana Starks, the first female head coach of an NCAA Division I men’s golf team. But in Rough, Henson will play a fictional character that faces daily battles as she tries to establish the first golf team at a historically black college. Production is set to begin October 4th in New Orleans… Mutants alert: Zoe Kravitz, daughter of Lenny has been added to the cast of X-Men: First Class. Kravitz will play the character Angel. The film begins production in London on August 23rd

Paula Patton will star in the next installment of Mission: Impossible. Patton will play a young operative who works with Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt character. Not much else is known about the film’s plot details other than the fact it will not be given the title ‘Mission: Impossible 4.’ Producers J.J. Abrams and Cruise look to this fourth installment as a new beginning in the franchise. Production begins on the movie in the fall.—Ronke Idowu Reeves
