Usher Says Cleveland Fans Expected LeBron ‘To Stay Forever’
Ever since LeBron James held one of the most famous press conferences of all time, everyone’s been injecting their two cents about his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and sign with the Miami Heat.
Lots of Clevelanders, among other cities, were upset with Bron’s decision to take his talents to South Beach. See: Cavs majority owner Dan Gilbert’s scathing letter.
As part owner of the Cavaliers, Usher says the entire incident was unexpected.
“That whole thing probably didn’t end up the way anyone expected it to. But as an African-American player, I’m really happy that we did have the time with him in our organization and we continue to grow,” Usher told VIBE recently. “The organization has done very well and will continue to do great. With that said, I think the expectation was to stay forever, but he obviously had other plans and it’s unfortunate.”
