Erykah Badu’s Hairdresser Claims TSA Violated Her Afro
Natural hair specialist Isis Brantley had a hair-raising experience with airport security recently. The Texan woman’s wild mane was searched by the TSA for explosives while trying to catch an American Airlines flight in Dallas. “I just heard these voices saying, ‘Hey you, hey you, ma’am, stop. Stop — the lady with the hair, you,” she told Dallas’ KXAS.
Following the search, a humiliated and embarrassed Brantley cried. According to her account, a female TSA agent “started digging around” in a search for explosives.
In the name of Homeland Security, the TSA has become more of a nuisance at airports rather than a necessary protective service. In this case, Brantley was a victim of discrimination. As she put so bluntly, “Was Dolly Parton hiding something in her hair? Does, or was Cher hiding something in her hair? Do they search Howard Stern or Snooki? Something could definitely fit in Snooki’s pouf.”
The answer is “hell no,” certainly. Brantley is only one of the many “random coincidences” of racism by this administration.
In return, the hairdresser, who names Erykah Badu as one of her clients, solely wants a public apology. Let’s see if she gets it.
