Dancehall Star Vybz Kartel Charged With Murder

Dancehall star Vybz Kartel was been changed with murder on Monday. A police statement released in Kingston, Jamaica implies Vybz, whose real name is Adidjah Palmer, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possessions of firearm.

“The allegation is that on Monday, July 11, 2011, Palmer, along with other men, conspired to murder Barrington Burton o/c ‘Bossie’, a 27 year old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St. Catherine. Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walker Avenue in Gregory Park.” The police released in the statement.

Today a preliminary hearing will be held. Vybz was originally arrested on Friday for marijuana possession. However this isn’t the first time the “Yuh Love” has been arrested. He was previously arrested on charges of assault and illegal gun possession. Those charges were later dropped.

Kartel crossed over to America with singles “Ramping Shop”, Dollar Sign” and “Clarks” and has collaborated with Rihanna, Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams. Aside from music, Kartel has different brands including, rum, condoms and his very controversial skin-lightening cosmetics line. --Brittny Pierre
