Vixen Chat: The Makers of OPI Talk Bottle Names, Kardashian Kolors + Nail Trends
What was it like working closely with the Kardashians to create their nail polish collection?
Working with the Kardashians for the Nicole by OPI collection was very exciting. Each of the women in the family have such distinct personalities and are really passionate about fashion and color, which allowed us to create a fun, diverse collection of lacquers that will appeal to women of all ages.
Which sister had the most input?
Nicole by OPI created 2-3 lacquers for each woman in the family, so they were all able to give us input on their favorite colors and textures, to create hues that represented them best.
What’s the difference between Nicole by OPI and the original OPI line?
OPI is a professional brand, meaning that product is only sold in salons. Nicole by OPI is a mass market brand and available at retailers such as Target, Walmart and Walgreens.
What nail trends should women pay attention to during the cold months?
Nail art continues to be a huge trend for fall; to get instant nail art, I recommend using OPI Shatter for a crackled, two-texture finish. I’m especially loving Silver Shatter and Gold Shatter for a metallic, glittery effect, which is perfect for the holiday season. As I mentioned earlier, spring/summer nude hues have graduated to deeper neutrals for fall/winter, set off by a highly-pigmented red or pink. Nails are also being worn longer, with a pointed oval shape for fall.
Also, two-toned nails are a big trend, as seen by Kaley Cuoco at this year’s EMMY’s. She wore OPI nail lacquer in Over the Taupe on all fingers except the two ring ones; those were painted with Big Apple Red. My personal favorite for fall is Get in the Expresso Lane with half moons or tips painted in French Quarter for Your Thoughts. This color combination is classic, but with an edge.
