Lil Wayne and Birdman to Headline First MTV2 Sucker Free Awards

The first annual MTV2 Sucker Free Awards is set to air on December 4th from Miami. MTV recently announced headliners Lil Wayne and Birdman will be taking the stage at the South Beach hotspot club LIV Fontainebleau.

Weezy is nominated for both “Artist of the Year” and “Classic” categories and will perform at the Sucker Free Stage with YMCMB head honcho Birdman for a performance of “Why U Mad,” which also features Nicki MInaj. DJ Irie has been tapped to man the turntables and hip-hop veteran Sway Calloway will be handling hosting duties. MTV2 will announce special guest appearances at a later date.

The Sucker Free Awards will feature packages and acceptance speeches from the award-shows’ big winners. DJ Envy will also be on hand throughout the night to give fans the VIP treatment from the heart of the action.

A total of seven categories will be voted on through a combination of fan voting online and via social media, as well as voting by tastemakers throughout the music and entertainment industry. Viewers can vote for three Sucker Free Awards categories including “Must Follow Artist in Social Media,” “Rookie of the Year” and “The Best Crew of 2011” online by heading over to To vote via Twitter, fans must use #SuckerFreeAwards hash-tag, list the category and their vote.

The Sucker Free Awards airs SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4TH AT 11PM ET/PT ON MTV2.
