Nicole Ritchie Doesn’t Measure Her Success By Dollar Signs
House of Harlow designer Nicole Richie was just named the 2011 ‘Influencer of the Year’ by the Accessories Council Excellence Awards for her always on-trend look, but to her, fashion is not that serious. She told WWD, “It’s not that deep for me,” she says of her personal style. “It’s whatever I feel comfortable in at that time.”
She’s more worried about her customer, “To me, success isn’t measured by dollar signs,” she said. “It’s really about paying attention to the feedback and talking to my customer.” But she has had amazing success with her line House of Harlow that includes jewelry, shoes, sunglasses and handbags, though she won’t take on new projects just for the purpose of adding more to her line.
“With everything I do, I want to make sure that I take that time and make each category the best that it can be,” she said. “I tend to move very slowly and I do that on purpose so that I can sure that everything that I design really is the best version of what it is.”
