Rumor Alert! Did Drake Fire His Managers…?
This morning the New York Post set off serious rumors that Drake had fired his longtime managers and would be seeking help from hometown help moving forward.
According to the newspaper, the 25-year-old said bye to managers Gee Roberson, Al Branch, Kyambo Joshua and Bryant Cortez of Hip Hop Since 1978, the firm that also handles Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.
However, Billboard has just confirmed this as untrue. Drizzy did leave Creative International Management, including Dana Simms and Robert Gibbs, who were supposedly “panicked” by their outstanding deals with the Cash Money artist, but remains with the Hip-Hop 1978 team.
A source said to the Post, “Drake just felt like there were too many hands in his pockets. He was getting pulled in too many different directions.”
Reports say there was conflict between the rapper’s management teams from Canada and more recent additions.
“His team from Canada is trying to wrestle back control,” added the source. “He may go back to them to streamline things.”
As confirmed by his assistant, Brent Smith, an agent of William International Endeavor who manages Snoop Doog, will now be handling Drizzy. –Adelle Platon
