VH1 to Debut Scripted TLC Biopic
After the success of VH1’s scripted show Single Ladies, it looks like the network will leave the reality television era alone (following the success of their already-installed reality spots) for another scripted venture. The network announced plans to create a scripted film in a series of music biopics, that will be based on the evolution of musicians and pop culture icons. First up, is none other than 90’s super girl group TLC.
The film will be penned by screenwriter Kate Lanier–who’s also responsible for Beauty Shop, Set It Off and Glitter. For the film’s sake, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas have both signed on to consult and produce the film. “I always felt our story had to be told,” states Chilli on being excited to work on the project.
