Darmouth President Jim Yong Kim got the grand nod from President Barack Obama as a canidate to lead the World Bank.

According to Huffington Post, Obama said the Korean-born Kim’s vast experience on development issues made him the ideal candidate to carry out the international financial institution’s anti-poverty mission.

Joined by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton—who originally suggested Kim to Obama for the position—Obama said in a statement during the Rose Garden ceremony, “It’s time for a development professional to lead the world’s largest development agency.”

The World Bank’s primary focus is to fight poverty and promote development, so Kim should feel right at home on the developmental side of things. Congratulations!—Keenan Higgins
