Beastie Boys’ MCA Passes Away at Age 47

VIBE is deeply saddened to report the death of Beastie Boys’ member, MCA. Born Adam Yauch, the New York native co-founded the legendary hip-hop group with Mike D, Mix Master Mike, and Ad Rock.

TMZ confirms that they have spoken with sources close to MCA who have also confirmed his death. He was 47-years-old.

Currently, it is not known if Adam passed away from issues related to his battle with Cancer. He first announced his battle with the life-threatening disease in 2009. Since then, he went on to have surgery and radiation treatment to control his cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node.

The Beastie Boys formed in 1979 and have won multiple Grammy awards as a group.

Yauch is survived by his wife Dechen Wangdu and their daughter Tenzin Losel.
