Tips for Styling Natural Hair with a Flat Iron
4. Slow, Steady Pace.
Before applying heat, separate your hair into sections. Within each section, you want to detangle small sections with a wide tooth comb. Take the flat iron as close as you can to the root and pull down in one smooth motion. Repeat detangling and slow pace motion with flat iron until all sections are straighten.
5. Do Not Touch It Up.
When your straighten hair starts to get out of wack, do not grab the iron for a quick touch up. Dirty hair and flat irons just do not mix. Also, this heating tool isn’t for everyday use. The best thing to do once your straighten looks disappear is to twist or braid your hair in order to bring your hair back to its wavy texture.
