1. David Banner – “Sex, Drugs, and Video Games” [Mixtape]
Finally, it drops! We’ve been seeing videos and singles from this project for a while now, so it’s great to finally hear it in its entirety. This latest piece of work features appearances from Snoop Dogg, Game, Big K.R.I.T., A$AP Rocky, Maino, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz and many more. While the mixtape itself can sometimes get trapped in repetitive production, it does have some standouts including “Yao Ming” “Californication” and “Let Me In.” Also, the Tribe Called Quest-like interludes were a nice nod to classic hip-hop albums.

2. Lola Monroe – “Flexin’ (Freestyle)”
The flow is definitely there, but we’re still trying to figure out what separates her from Nicki. We’ll wait for her next offering to give a fair opinion on Taylor Gang’s princess.

3. Naledge – “Big Worm”
The erratic beat is a bit off-putting, but somewhere along the line it falls together & works.

4. Cocaine 80s (feat. Nas) – “Chain Glow”
This is a smooth ass track! Definitely gives off Frank Ocean vibes, but this one is in a class of its own. Plus, Nas’ midas touch lately has been on point.

5. Young Buck – “Morning Show”
If you listen to the lyrics, Buck reveals a lot about his personal life on this one. Stay up during your bid man!

6. Lupe Fiasco – Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)
When a sample is used in the right way, the results are what you’re hearing on this track. The old school “T.R.O.Y.” steez we get from this fits perfectly with Lupe’s style. Food & Liquor 2 just got that much more interesting.
