People are evaluating now just how serious this anti-Muslim film really is.

Hundreds of Yemeni demonstrators stormed the U.S. embassy in Sana’a today in protest of an anti-Muslim film they consider blasphemous to Islam. While security guards tried to hold them off by firing into the air, young demonstrators shout while marching, “We redeem, Messenger of God!” and smashing windows of the security offices outside the embassy with stones. The protestors then burned cars before breaking through the main gate of the heavily fortified compound in eastern Sana’a.

Tires blazed outside the U.S. embassy and protesters scaled the walls. “We can see a fire inside the compound and security forces are firing in the air. The demonstrators are fleeing and then charging back,” one witness said. Witnesses also say that there were some injuries on both sides but gave no exact figures. Before storming the embassy compound, the demonstrators removed the embassy’s sign on the outer wall, according to the AP. Once inside the compound, they brought down the U.S. flag and burned it. Meanwhile, the riots in Cairo have entered another day.
