Recap: Tyga and Kirko Bangz’ NYC ‘Closer To My Dreams’ Tour
Your girl’s favorite rappers Tyga and Kirko Bangz brought their ratchet hits to New York City Thursday night at the Best Buy Theatre for the ‘Closer To My Dreams’ tour.
As under-aged girls swooned and screamed at the front lines, all the gold-chains-and-shade-rocking fellas delightfully dougied along to both artists’ sets towards the back of the venue. Houston native Kirko Bangz opened the show as he lit the stage up with his Paul Wall grill and smooth club thumpers “What Yo Name Iz?” and “Play Me.” When it came time to close, the Procrastination Kills rapper didn’t even need to spit a word as he held the mic to the crowd who sang every word of his boozy ode “Drank In My Cup.”
Decked out in a New York Yankees jersey and bright red kicks, headliner Tyga kept the place turnt up with a string of upbeat cussin’ tracks including “Bad B*tches” and “B*tch Betta Have My Money.” He slowed down the tempo to transition into tunes from his latest offering Careless World: Rise Of The Last King, rap-crooning his Big Sean-assisted “I’m Gone.”
The YMCMB spitter also brought out his fun-sized artist Honey Cocaine who rocked out with her founder on cuts like “Well Done 3″ and ‘Heisman.” Kirko also reappeared for a live rendition of “Nasty N*gga.” Tyga then set it off with a finishing medley that opened up the memory gates, performing “Faded,” “Deuces,” and “Bedrock.” At one point, the tatted-up emcee jumped into the crowd before reappearing on the shoulders of two strong men as he slid through a sea of fans. Before exiting, Tyga brought a train of ladies to the stage (who were shielded by multiple bodyguards) for his romp-loving closer “Lap Dance.”
