Lenny Kravitz To Play Marvin Gaye In “Midnight Love”
We heard it through the grapevine that Lenny Kravitz is to play Marvin Gaye in an upcoming film. Dance to the details after the jump.
Julien Temple, whose is best known for directing “Absolute Beginners,” is helming the film that would chart the final years of Gaye’s life in London. Chronicling his bout with alcohol addiction in 1981 to how music promoter Freddy Cousaert resuscitated his career, “Midnight Love” is shaping up to be just the musical biopic that we’ve been asking for.
This marks the first lead role that singer Lenny Kravitz has landed, although he did show some acting chops as the dangerous rebel stylist in “The Hunger Games.”
Earning distinction from his musical career only aids in helping Kravitz’s transition. With hits that include “Are You Gonna Go My Way” and a cover of “American Woman” that was featured in the “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.”
