Just a week after being involved in a terrible accident at the Winter X Games, pro snowmobiler Caleb Moore has died. He was only 25-years-old.

The three time medalist succumbed to his injuries from his Snowmobile Freestyle at the Winter X Games last week when he flew over the handlebars mid-flip. He received a concussion after a snowmobile rolled over him. After being airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, his family announced that he was having “brain complications.”

ESPN released the following statement last week after Moore’s accident:

“We’ve worked closely on safety issues with athletes, course designers and other experts for each of the 18 years of X Games. Still, when the world’s best compete at the highest level in any sport, risks remain. Caleb is a four-time X Games medalist who fell short on his rotation on a move he has landed several times previously.”

His family has declined to comment and a website will be created for donations to Moore’s medical bills. This is the first death in The X Games’ 18-year run.
