10 Anniversary Concerts For Hip-Hop Record Labels We Need to Happen

Did you catch all the photos and videos from the So So Def 20th Anniversary Concert that took place in Atlanta last weekend? If not, do yourself a favor and go look at and watch them, because Jermaine Dupri really went all out for the event. From Jay-Z, Usher, and Mariah Carey to Kris Kross, Da Brat, and Lil Jon, JD brought out everyone from So So Def’s past (and present!) to rock the crowd and celebrate one of the longest-running record labels in hip-hop history. It was really nice to see a huge rap concert making tons of headlines for all the right reasons for a change.

And, it also got us to thinking: Why don’t more rap labels hold anniversary concerts like this one? We know that there have been a few of them in the past. But, it feels like more rap labels should be taking the same approach as So So Def when it comes time to celebrate a big anniversary. So, we put together a list of 10 Anniversary Concerts For Hip-Hop Record Labels That We’d Pay To See. Some of these wouldn’t be able to take place for a few years, but that would give the label heads plenty of time to plan and give each concert the proper treatment. What do you say, guys? See you at these shows?
