Anne Hathaway Apologizes for Wearing Prada Dress to Oscars
Oscars fashion is serious business to Anne Hathaway.
The night’s winner of the coveted Best Supporting Actress honor for her role in ‘Les Miserables’ released an apology after a mix-up with her Academy Award wardrobe. Hathaway, who originally intended to wear a Valentino couture gown, opted out after finding that other actresses — including Jennifer Aniston and Amanda Seyfried — would be donning similar dresses. She instead wore a Prada gown.
“It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans,” Hathaway said. “Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honour of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused.”
Hathaway has also been goo friends with designer Valentino Garavani, whose dress she wore to the 2011 Academy Awards. Describing the actress as being “like my daughter,” the designer also provided Hathaway with her one-of-a-kind wedding dress.
