Beyoncé Pens ‘Single Ladies’ Lyrics to Support Marriage Equality
Beyoncé picked her side in the debate on same-sex marriage.
Last night (Mar. 26), after the Supreme Court debated Prop 8, BaddieBey took to her Instagram twice in support of the Human Rights Campaign. She posted red and pink logo sign and a personal, handwritten note. “If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it,” she captioned the photo, referencing her mega-anthem “Single Ladies.”
Currently, the controversial ban prevents the legal marriage of gay couples and from receiving a range of federal benefits that straight couples have access to.
Several celebrities have also vocalized their supper of marriage equality. King B’s hubby Jay-Z spoke out last year. “You choose to love whoever you love,” he said in an interview with CNN. “That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination, plain and simple.”
