Ja Rule In Jail Till July For Tax Evasion
Looks like Ja Rule won’t be holla’ring freedom till summertime.
The former Murder Inc. MC was released from a state prison in central New York after serving most of his two-year sentence for illegal gun possession in June 2011 only to be taken into federal custody for tax evasion, according to the Huffington Post.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons says Ja (real name Joseph Atkins) has moved to Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, which is reserved for inmates with short terms left on their sentences or awaiting court dates. The 36-year-old spitter admitted to not paying more than $3 million in taxes from 2004 to 2006 while he lived in New Jersey and has to pay a remaining $1.1 million.
The bureau said his expected release date is July 28.
