Jennifer Hudson and Octavia Spencer to Star in Lifetime Movie About Mental Illness
Academy Award winners Jennifer Hudson and Octavia Spencer will combine their star power for an original Lifetime movie this spring. Call Me Crazy: A Five Film will tackle the issue of mental illness and the stigma it carries, especially in the black community. The entire “all star cast” will tell five interwoven stories about how love and family can overcome any challenge, including problems with mental health. Executive producer Jennifer Aniston is using this opportunity to create what she believes is necessary awareness.
“When we started researching this topic, we were all surprised to learn that one in four adults lives with some sort of mental illness,” she said. “With so many people dealing with this in their private lives, there is still so much stigma and shame. It’s time we bring it out of the closet and into the light of day.”
The film debuts on April 20 at 8 p.m. ET.
