Education is apparently important to the incarcerated Lil Boosie, who completed his GED program recently from behind bars.

Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, is serving an eight year sentence in Louisiana’s Angola State Prison for conspiracy to smuggle weed, ecstasy and codeine into two different prisons on three different occasions. The “Independent” rapper is shown above dressed in his graduation gown, grinning with his family members and the framed credential. The five-part test consists of reading, social studies, writing, science and mathematics.

The Louisiana born rapper, 30, has a fairly full archive of past charges, most notably dodging a possible death penalty in May of last year for a first degree murder charge he beat. Boosie’s decision to become a rapper stems from his drug related expulsion from high school. He has served over three years of his eight-year sentence and released the album Incarcerated from prison in 2010.

Knowledge is power! Do you think Boosie has turned over a new leaf?
