Malinda Williams and Macy’s Celebrate Gordon Parks
Parks photographic essays were not only aesthetically pleasing, but brought many American issues to light such as racism and the gap between rich and poor. His portrait of cleaning lady Ella Watson, also known as “American Gothic, Washington, D.C” is legendary for capturing both a survivor and victim of American society. Because of his revolutionary work and countless other unsung heroes, we are afforded a bevy of opportunities today. To learn more about Gordon Parks, visit the Gordon Parks Foundation here.
