Netflix To Integrate With Facebook
Netflix may have just received a few more likes on their Facebook page this morning. Earlier today (March 13), the innovative video rental company announced that they’ll now allow U.S. users to share the videos they’ve watched via Facebook.
Netflix is calling the new initiative “Netflix Social.” Subscribers will be able to link their accounts with Facebook and access their “Friends Favorites” and “Watched by Friends” rows.
So now your coworker’s strange Woody Allen obsession will be available for slander.
Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings joined Facebook’s board of trustees in June 2011. Countries outside of the US have been able to use integrated features since then. Hastings was able to successfully overturn the U.S.’s Video Privacy Protection Act of 1988, which prohibited movie rental companies from sharing customer’s viewing records.
