Gentlemen’s Corner: Stylist Kwasi Kessie Talks Chris Brown’s Style on ‘106 & Park’
The closest person to ripping the “Mr. 106 & Park” title from Bow Wow’s clutches could possibly be Chris Brown, on account of his flourishing taste in fashion. The 23-year-old teen artist-turned-full-fledged popstar has visited the livest music countdown show several times, premiering videos, performing chart-topping hits and even supporting his own Chris Brown Entertainment artists, like Sevyn. But today, fans also have their eyes glued to Breezy’s other labels.
A sense of maturation and confidence seeps through the “Fine China” singer’s music these days resulting in his edgier and more effortless style choices. Since the days of “Run It,” Brown has succumbed to a few sartorial missteps but more often than not has remained on-trend or miles ahead of it. He’s even created his own apparel Mechanical Dummy and is currently co-funding Karrueche’s clothing line The Kill.
Now under the supervision of stylist Ugo Mozie, denim jackets, leather embellishments and printed tees have all riddled the tatted-up star. But exactly how far has the Virginia native come in the style department? Vixen caught up with 106’s resident male stylist Kwasi Kessie to zero in on the superstar’s evolving fashion sense and details how young men can get CB’s look for less. — Niki McGloster
