Actor Michael Cera has brought his directorial debut to the new YouTube network JASH. ‘Brazzaville Teen-Ager’ is a short film chronicling a young man named Gunther’s quest to save his father’s life. In the clip — an adaptation of a short story by Bruce Jay Friedman — off-beat hilarity and sentiment combined with long, focused shots create a noteworthy 19-minute experience.

Charles Grodin co-stars alongside Cera as Gunther’s agitated boss who has been enlisted for the cause. The film also features Kelis, whose music plays an integral role in curing the ailing old man. Jack O’ Connell (Skins) and Heems (Das Racist) appear in the film as well.

The JASH channel is a combined effort between Cena, Sarah Silverman, comedic duo Tim & Eric, and Reggie Watts. The new Internet comedy haven will feature original works from the genre-ruling group. Check out Brazzville Teen-Ager here.
