WWE Lawsuit Settled Over Wrestler’s Death
The Owen Hart – WWE lawsuit was settled Wednesday, the wrestling corporation announced in a statement with Hart’s widow Martha.
Hart died in the ring in 1999 at age 34, during an event in Kansas City, when a rope system broke. Hart’s widow sued WWE in 2010, alleging that the company had not paid royalty payments owed to Hart’s estate and had been using his name and likeness in violation of a prior contract.
The WWE lawsuit was resolved, although chief exec Vince McMahon did not disclose financial terms. Hart’s death was one of the most traumatic moments in the company’s history.
