Nicki Minaj On Music Biz: ‘People Treat This Business Like High School’
Nicki Minaj doesn’t do child’s play in neither her relationships nor her music career.
“People treat this business like it’s high school,” she tells Teen Vogue. “It can absolutely feel like one big popularity contest, and you know what? I can’t be bothered. I can’t allow myself to play ridiculous games with grown adults in the industry. I can’t be nice to someone just because they’re hot right now. I can’t do it.”
The American Idol judge covers the popular youth mag in a cotton candy-colored dress, a far cry from her recent make-under for ELLE. And although the reported mean girl to Mariah Carey on the music competition reality show, Miss Minaj recalls her own experiences with not-so-nice kids for the glossy.
