Speed demon Vin Diesel was on Facebook before it was even Facebook. At least that’s his explanation for nabbing 41 million likes on the social media platform.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the “Fast & Furious star” said jumping on the FB game early in 2009 helped mold his larger-than-life online persona, especially after connecting with fans personally on the site. His only competition? The Commander-in-chief.

“So, when I had started my page, the only person that had a million fans was Barack Obama. Because it was first-quarter 2009, and he’d just got elected as President, because of social media,” Diesel says. “So, when I started talking to the fans, I became the No. 1 page in the world. Over Coca-Cola, over huge companies. And it was only because I said: ‘Hi, guys, I love you.’” (Facebook was even the place fans loved the barritone-voiced actor for singing a deep rendition of Rihanna’s “Stay” for his longtime girlfriend.)

At one point, Diesel’s profile was the no.1 most liked page in the world and even stumped the FB team, who had reached out for an explanation and “to come up to their office to explain what the fuck I was doing, and why I had so many fans.”

Now, the vanilla Hulk, who’s still beasting on-screen at 45, jokes that Mark Zuckerberg’s brain child owes him a couple stacks. “Facebook really owes me billions of dollars,” he jokes. “But whatever.”
