Consider this one leap forward and another leap back for mankind. The Supreme Court smacked down the gavel on two historic rulings that affect the LGBT community and minorities. Earlier today (June 26), SCOTUS effectively made it legal for same-sex couples to receive federal benefits while also upholding gay marriage rights in California by dismissing Prop 8.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court killed part of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This means some states will be allowed to change their voting rules without getting federal consent first. So there’s that. Twitter responded to both rulings with vehemence. Click through for the emotional reactions.
