Avicii Whisks DJ Protégés To Grand Prix In Budapest
Swedish DJ superhero, Avicii is putting his talents to work in Ibiza, acting as a mentor to 18 DJ hopefuls gathered on the White Isle as part of the Burn Residency program. Offering in-depth tutorials on his production techniques, Avicii also selected two contestants to join him to perform at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Budapest in July.
Avicii is part of an elite cast of DJ talent, which also includes Fatboy Slim, Joe Goddard, Steve Lawler and Solomun, who are training the up-and-comers as part of the Burn Residency program. During the day’s mentoring session, he discussed some of his key milestones so far.
“DJing and producing has become my life for the past few years, when I was 18 I never could have imagined being able to play in some of the places I’ve been, or selling records on the same scale as ‘Levels’,” he said “This is a career like any other, and you have to be dedicated and focused 100 per cent of the time, and treat it like any other job, but for me it’s the best job anyone could ever want. I am truly blessed to be able to do this every day and I wish each of you the best of luck in the future in living out your dreams”.
The payoff for the DJs taking part in Burn three lucky spinners will be chosen for a residency in Ibiza across the season. Of all the young worldwide talent gathered, Avicii’s favourites were Fire Flowerz from Italy, and Yamato from Japan, who he chose to join him in Budapest.
“We’re totally overwhelmed to have been chosen to perform with Avicii in such an exciting environment and in front of such a huge crowd, it’s incredible.” said Fire Flowerz.
“Avicii is an amazing artist and I am over the moon to have a chance to play with him. It’s something I never thought would be possible and now via this experience in Ibiza, that dream is becoming truer by the minute,” said Yamato.
