Azealia Banks, Kendrick Lamar and Nas Perform at Governors Ball Music Festival
Saturday’s headliner, along with band Guns & Roses, was Queens-bred rap legend Nas. He began his epic set paying respects to New York City with 2012 smash hit “The Don”. With New York as the all-encompassing theme, Nas played up the ladies in the crowd by throwing compliments in between tracks. “Hey ladies, I’m single again! But I’m just warning you, I’m crazy,” he addressed the crowd about his current relationship status. With DJ Green Latern on the 1‘s and 2‘s, and accompanied by lead vocalist Eddie Cole (related to the late and great Nat King Cole), Nas performed everything from oldies but goodies like “If I Ruled The World” to his heartwarming dedication to fathers with baby girls, called “Daughters”.
