Enter The Funkmosphere: 5 Dope Tracks From G&D’s ‘The Lighthouse’ Album

| June 26, 2013 - 9:12 pm

Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins (a.k.a. Declaime) have worked together and separately for years now, trafficking great melodies across the musical universe. Their blend of psychedelic funk, soul, hip-hop, spoken-word poetry, riot-inducing lyricism and more has been on the radar since the group’s debut in 2006. Utilizing free-form, the married dynamic duo of dopeness combine all of their respective talents for the self-released effort The Lighthouse (SomeOthaShip).

Produced entirely by Georgia Anne Muldrow with artwork conceptualized by Japanese painter Tokio Aoyama, G&D pack 17 tracks that explore the expansive subjects of love, politics, spirituality, healthy living, parenthood and world citizenship. All of this add up to a funky, playful sound best called “that good God sound,” which is no surprise given the tandem’s past work with the likes of Tha Alkaholiks, J*DaVeY, Yasiin Bey, Robert Glasper and Erykah Badu.

With their 10th release available now, check out 5 Dope Tracks From The Lighthouse album.
