With his twelfth studio album Magna Carta Holy Grail album dropping exclusively through Google Play on Samsung this Independence Day, Jay-Z throws out another set of lyrics to tease the patiently waiting, this time, featuring Frank Ocean.

After paying homage with his pen to legendary rock acts like Nirvana on “Holy Grail” and R.E.M. on “Heaven,” Hov looks to take us back to history class on “Oceans,” painting Biggie as rap’s Christopher Columbus and depicting how the past inevitably reshapes the future.

“It’s like for me now, no matter where I go and the things in life I accomplish, when you walk into that room, you’re past due,” Jay explains to Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Rick Rubin and Pharrell. “It sounds like a celebration of where we are now, somewhere on a big yacht, throwing champagne into the water and the undertow … is the same water that brought us here.”

Let Shawn take the stand below.
