Kanye West Tops First Week Sales, Debuts At No. 1 With ‘Yeezus’
UPDATE: J. Cole takes the #2 spot on the Billboard Top 200 with 296,642 units sold. Yeezus led by only a 30,000 unit margin. The rapper also known as Larry Fisherman takes the third slot for “Watching Movies With the Sound Off” with 102,000 as Kelly Rowland landed the 10th spot with Talk A Good Game, selling 68,000.

A week after last week’s epic showdown between Kanye West’s Yeezus, J. Cole’s Born Sinner and Mac Miller’s Watching Moves with the Sound Off, Nielsen SoundScan has released the official numbers for ‘Ye’s latest offering.
It looked to be a tight race between the G.O.O.D. Music gawd and the Fayetteville sophomore based on first week projections but the “On Sight” MC reigned supreme on the throne once more, debuting at no. 1 and selling 327,000 copies of his seventh studio effort. Billboard reports that “it’s the biggest week for a rap album since Drake’s Take Care arrived with 631,000 at No. 1 in November of 2011. This marks West’s sixth No. 1 album.
Though the full top 10 numbers won’t hit the ‘net till later today, Cole world still has reason to rejoice since Jermaine is expected to push upwards of 297K units. Indy star Mac clocks in at a projected 101K. The latest sales week ended at the close of business on Sunday, June 23. Check back for the final results.
