As the former breadwinner of Irv Gotti’s musical clan Murder Inc., rapper Ja Rule takes the street mentality to the big screen in the upcoming flick I’m In Love With A Church Girl. While production for the action/ crime thriller began in 2010, it’s the first semblance of work by Jeffrey Atkins post-prison. The plot may read like the perfect video treatment for a Ja and Ashanti reunion collabo: “Inspired by a true story, a successful entrepreneur haunted by a criminal past finds faith and redemption when God puts a woman in his life,” but the Queens MC holds his own as Miles Montego who tries to thwart the thug life in the name of love when he meets a church-going dime played by Adrienne Bailon. Stephen Baldwin, Vincent Pastore, Michael Madsen and T-Bone also star. Peep the official trailer above. I’m In Love With A Church Girl hits theaters Oct. 18.
