Statik Selektah is one of the few producers left in hip-hop that hasn’t let his music become influenced by the “mainstream” sound. The rap purist has gained more momentum since his latest album Extended Play competed with the albums of other Hip-Hop greats like Kanye West, J. Cole and Mac Miller. But Stat says it’s not about the money. “I don’t do albums for album sales,” he told VIBE. “I just do it as a conversation piece and a business card.” His business card has been passed to the hands of many great labels and artists alike. For his sixth studio album, Stat featured the talents of Action Bronson, Raekwon, Termanology, Freeway and Talib Kweli just to name a few. Over the years, the Massachusetts native has clashed with artists from all spectrums of the game. Statik, with input from his right hand man Termanology, filled VIBE in on his best collaborations to date.
