While the people of America have been taking to social media and the streets in protest of the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial, artists have been channeling their opinions into music, sharing their outrage through song. Young Jeezy and Wyclef Jean have both released tributes to Martin and the latest to follow is D.C. native Raheem DeVaughn. The singer teamed up with Styles P on “Trigga Man,” from the perspective of the teen whose life was stolen last February. “Did you ever stop to think that I could have been a teacher, a preacher, or play power forward?/ That I could have been a surgeon, a father, a grandpop one day, but you’re a dream killer,” he croons. The track ends with a news clip about seventeen-year old Jordan Davis, who was shot and killed by Michael Dunn in Jacksonville, FL, while unarmed. Listen to the song below.
