Solange Attends Brooklyn Rally To Protest George Zimmerman Verdict
“I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it’s for or against.” ––Malcolm X
That is the quote reading off the poster that singer/songwriter, Solange Knowles picketed with at the Trayvon Martin protest she held in New York City.
On Sunday, July 14, a day after George Zimmerman’s “not guilty” verdict was publicly announced, Solange took to Brooklyn’s Borough Hall in an effort to spark movement on behalf of the 17-year-old black youth who was slain by Zimmerman in February of 2012.
As one of many who set the viral universe ablaze with backlash, Solange was also one of the first celebs to voice her concern in regards to men of color and then act on her desire to propel real change.
