Solange Cancels European Tour Dates, Focuses On Family and New Record
Considering family, her mental, physical condition and creative process, Solange canceled the European leg of her summer tour, a string of festival gigs in Denmark, Belgium, Portugal, Norway, Finland and Poland. Releasing an official statement, the “Losing You” singer was devastated to pull out of Europe but explained that her family comes first as her eight-year-old son Daniel ‘Julez’ Smith settles in to his new school.
“I wish I could put in words how much of a difficult decision this was,” Solange wrote. “But between moving part-time to a new city, starting my son in a new school, and writing/recording my new record, I really had to make the best decision for my mental/physical health and provide some stability for my family. I am so so sooooo sorry if I’ve disappointed, and really hope to make it out to those special cities soon enough!”
Juggling her priorities has not been a walk in the park.
“Motherhood is a balancing act, and it is not at all easy,” she said in a recent interview with Brooklyn Magazine. “I do the best I can, which involves a lot of saying no to things, actually, and a lot of really organized scheduling and a lot of help, to be honest.”
