Trayvon Martin’s Mother Takes Stand in George Zimmerman Trial
Sybrina Fulton, mother of the late Trayvon Martin, was called to the witness stand against George Zimmerman this morning. Stoic and strong, the mother maintained throughout her short, but critical testimony that the voice crying for help during a 911 call was her son’s.
“Trayvon Benjamin Franklin,” she responded when asked if she recognized the screaming or yelling.
Although defense attorney Mark O’Mara speculated that Fulton’s statement was clouded by her emotions, she continued to stand by her statement. Trayvon’s older brother Jahvaris Fulton echoed his mother’s answer, but did admit to previously telling a new stations that he wasn’t sure the voice was Trayvon’s.
The prosecution is expected to rest today, leaving the defense to call its own witnesses, including the family of George Zimmerman.
