For a fellow who likes to keep an air of mystery about him, The Weeknd’s forthcoming album cover for Kiss Land falls somewhere along the lines of predictable.
The Canadian crooner released the artwork for his first LP with neon green awning and a photo of himself, chin tilted upwards. Maybe he’s sticking his nose up to conventional standards, but he recently opened up to Complex and discussed the significance of the project’s title.
“Kiss Land symbolizes the tour life, but it’s a world that I created in my head,” he said. “Just like House of Balloons symbolizes Toronto and my experiences there, but it’s a world that I created. When I think about Kiss Land, I think about a terrifying place. It’s a place I’ve never been to before that I’m very unfamiliar with.”
The adventure takes place when Kiss Land descends Aug. 27.
