Dillon Francis, The National & Keys N Krates Backstage at Lollapalooza 2013 With VIBE
“The whole thing that was crazy about it was that I was playing the same festival that Nirvana has played,” DJ Dillon Francis says of Lollapalooza’s roots. “For me, they made it Lollapalooza.”
Lollapalooza’s humble beginnings as a hard rock and grunge touring festival in the ‘90s has morphed into a stationary 300,000-person event held in Chicago annually that houses acts across all genres — dance music, hip-hop and indie rock. VIBE got to hang backstage at the Samsung Galaxy tent with the festival’s stars and chat about why Lollapalooza is America’s biggest and baddest festival. Check out VIBE’s Day Two recap from the festival above.
