Eminem Releasing New Album MMLP2 In November

Taking a page from the Daft Punk promo book, Eminem announced that he will be releasing the new album MMLP2 via a 15-second commercial that aired during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. MMLP2 is the sequel to 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP, Em’s best-selling album to date. The commercial didn’t reveal much, except for the album’s producers — Eminem’s long-time collaborator Dr. Dre and hip-hop uber-producer Rick Rubin — plus the release date. Eminem can also be heard rapping over a Beastie Boys “Paul Revere” sample in the background. “Let’s take it back to straight hip-hop and start it from scratch,” spits Em. The snippet is from the LP’s first single, titled “Berzerk,” which drops on Tuesday, Aug. 27. Slim Shady hinted that he was back via a pre-VMA tweet, leading people to speculate that he’d be making an appearance at the awards show. The news of his new LP comes as a complete surprise.

MMLP2 drops Nov. 5.
